Mary Olympia Lynch, 78, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021. Having married the love of her life on June 8, 1963, married 54 years, she was the devoted wife of the late Francis Xavier Lynch Sr.

Born in Seekonk, Ma, she was the daughter of Della Oliveira Refino & George Edward King and stepdaughter to Earl Refino as well as the loving sister to Earl & Russell Refino and the late Barbara Margeson.

She spent most of her formative years in Cumberland, RI where she attended Cumberland High school and later Johnson & Wales University studying business administration.

She was the mother of the late Francis X. Lynch Jr., George Lynch, Brian Lynch and Christopher Lynch.

As a person, Mary was the very definition of a loving wife and mother. She devoted most of her life to caring for her four sons and their families, as well as babysitting for her cousin’s children. She was a cinema enthusiast. She and her husband spent nearly every Friday evening on a classic dinner and movie date, catching the latest shows and eating at their favorite restaurant. She enjoyed “the races” and on any given Saturday in the spring, could be spotted at the Seekonk Speedway, sitting with her family, eating sandwiches and anxiously awaiting that evenings events. She loved cows and Christmas. Most of all she loved being with her family. She was the kind of person who could find immense joy in the simple things in life. She never complained or spoke ill of anyone. She was genuinely one of the kindest souls to ever walk this earth and with her gone the world will be all the poorer for it.

She is survived by her sons, George Lynch and his wife Sandy Lynch, Brian Lynch, Christopher Lynch and his wife Traci Lynch, her grandchildren, Shaina Lynch-Ellis and her husband David Ellis, Alissa Lynch, Francis X Lynch III, Christy Petrarca and her husband John Petrarca, Kyle Lynch, Mason Lynch, Alexa Lynch, Shawn Lynch and Cory Mccarron, her great grandchildren, Phoebe Ellis, Wyatt Ellis, Lily Petrarca and Emma Petrarca as well as nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid restrictions a walk through wake will be held on Friday, March 12, at Keefe funeral home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI, 02865 from 10-12pm. A private mass will be held for immediate family at 12pm. No more than 30 people will be allowed in the building at a time. Masks required.
